Adil Raja, a controversial YouTuber who has been a target of a defamation lawsuit filed by Brigadier Rashid Naseer in August 2022, suffered a legal setback after a UK court judge dismissed all his applications. This included his plea for a stay on a proceeding defamation suit against him.

The court ruled Adil Raja was guilty of publishing statements that were defamatory towards Rashid Naseer through nine publications on the social media websites YouTube, Facebook and X.

Adil Farooq Raa, a YouTuber, was ordered by Deputy High Court judge Richard Spearman KC to pay PS5,000 in compensation for the dismissed application to stay defamation proceedings.

The defendant Adil Raja has until April 17, 2020 to pay the money.

Raja was assisted by Mahtab Aziz, the leader of PTI UK who also represents PTI activist Shayanali. Raja appeared in court remotely via video link to argue that the case of Brig. (retd.) Naseer.

However, the court rejected Raja’s arguments. These included accusations that Pakistan is a dictatorial state where the Inter-Services Intelligence Controls the Judiciary and Government and allegations of election rigging.

The High Court judge ruled, in the case on meaning that nine of the ten publications by Raja were defamatory at common-law of Brig (retd). Naseer, and were not expressions of opinions, but rather facts.

Imran Khan, former prime Minister, referred by “Mr.X” to Brig. (retd. ) Naseer when making baseless and wild allegations. Khan and the party backed off and never proved these claims.

Deputy High court Judge Mr Richard Spearman KC, ruled in a decision on the meaning of the publication that Brig (R). Rashid Naseer had been defamed under UK common-law when Adil Farooq published the allegations.

Adil Raja’s Baseless Allegations on Brig (R) Naseer :

Raja, without any proof, made the following claims in the June 2022 publications:

1. Rashid Naseer has taken control of the Lahore High Court.
2. Rashid Naseer allegedly held several meetings with Asif Zardari in order to discuss electoral manipulation.
3. Rashid Naseer is going to be eliminated by the soldiers, who will leak information on the movements of these people.
4. Brigadier Rashid Naseer was against PTI candidates.
5. Rashid Naseer has been a part of a process scrupulously crafted by military officers and intelligence officers for the purpose of rigging elections.
6. Rashid Naseer took advantage of the position he held, using large amounts of funds that were unaccounted to ensure victory for PDM.
7. Rashid Naseer is going to take advantage of his position during the PTI Elections in order to harass PTI supporters.
8. Rashid Naseer sinned against the promise of eternal life and has destroyed any chance he had to receive it.
9. Rashid Naseer influenced the police by falsely accusing them of bribery.
10. Rashid Naseer directly interferes with politics
11. Brigadier Rashid Naseer lodged a complaint against Adil Raja to defame him.
12. Rashid Naseer arrested Adil Raja’s brother-in law
13. He played a major role in bringing about a regime change.

The retired Brigadier has denied all of these claims made by Raja.

UK Courts Orders to Adil Raja-Youtuber:

Raja requested that Brig (Retd) Rashid Naseer be ordered to pay a security of 250,000£ because he lives in Pakistan, but he sued in the UK. However, the judge refused this request.

Instead, he agreed with the lawyers that Brig (Retd)Naseer would agree to give an undertaking stating that his solicitors only hold 4,000£ in security.

Raja also requested anonymity in his request for the trial of his witnesses. However, the court took the same position as Brig (retd. Naseer)’s attorneys and granted Raja’s request to anonymise witnesses only until witness statements were exchanged.

On June 14, 2022 the YouTuber started his campaign against this officer through videos and tweets posted on YouTube and Facebook.

Who is Adil Raja?

Major (Retired), Adil-Farooq-Raja is a retired Pakistan Army officer who was convicted of sedition against army personnel and violations of Official Secrets Act (1923) related to espionage.

On the 7th and the 9th of October 2023 the court of jurisdiction adjudged and convicted Raja through a due legal process.

Raja currently represents Pakistan at IHRF in the United States. Adil Raja is also a Youtuber and regularly posts videos on his channel.
