Government of Pakistan took a big decision about the all schools being privatised. This includes all of their assets, which are thought to be worth billions of rupees and include buildings, parks, and laboratories. The government will renounce all direct control and responsibility over these public schools once they are in the hands of the private sector.

A non-profit organisation called “Muslim Hands” has been given permission to take over 1,000 A-class high schools for both boys and girls throughout Punjab, including the division of Rawalpindi.

On the other side, this move has been met with vehement resistance by the Punjab Headmasters Association, Punjab Teachers Union, Educators Association, Punjab Association, and All Pakistan Clerks Association.

The Lahore police have arrested 91 individuals after conducting a crackdown on protesting government workers, including teachers, outside the Civil Secretariat. Police started gathering information from adjacent private hotels to find the protest’s organisers after they purportedly vanished over night. According to police, anyone who crosses their radar will be detained. It’s important to note that several of the protesting women were allegedly hit with batons by the police before being taken into custody.

According to sources, police started the operation late at night. Teams of police officers from various Lahore police stations took part in the operation.

Teachers’ representatives have urged the government to reverse changes made to the leave encashment and pension laws, halt privatising public schools, and provide group insurance for teachers upon retirement.

They have organised protests and rallies in opposition to the Government of Pakistan took a big decision, stressing that a caretaker government should only be in charge of running elections and daily operations. They contend that since formulating policy calls for legislative action, such decisions shouldn’t be taken since the Punjab Assembly is currently nonexistent.
