Blake Lively was among the celebrities who took to social media in order to apologize for participating in the viral conspiracy theories surrounding Kate. She admitted that she felt “mortified by her actions” after learning about the Princess’s diagnosis.
Lively said to her Instagram followers, “I know no one is interested today, but I felt I had to acknowledge it.” I posted a stupid post about the ‘photoshop fail frenzy’, and, oh man, today, it has made me mortified. I’m sorry.”
Cohen said he was “astonished to see celebrities take responsibility” and suggested that they might have “experienced a blow to [their] own popularity”.
The Princess of Wales requested “privacy” in her statement following “an incredibly difficult couple of months for my entire family”.
The Princess stated: “This came as an enormous shock and William and I are doing all we can to manage and process this privately, for the sake of our young family.”
